Borrowing from a distance (online students and faculty)

The Library offers a Material Delivery service to students and faculty that are unable to visit the Library.

The Library staff will retrieve books or other items from our collection and mail materials to you without charge. Return postage for items is also provided. Use the Library Material Request Form to borrow materials from the WilmU Library collection. Requests can also be made by calling the Library: 1-800-451-5724.

Borrowing while visiting the Library (New Castle Campus)

After identifying a library-owned item in the online catalog, simply write down the call number to locate the item on the shelf. If you need help finding an item, please ask a Library staff member.

Bring the item to the front desk and present your University ID card to check the item out.

To obtain a University ID card, please go to the 1st floor of the Doberstein Admissions Center (DAC Building) in New Castle or the Wilmington University administrative offices at your site.

  1. How do out-of-state students get a Wilmington University ID Card?? I would like one for several reasons, one being discounts students receive. I am from Southern California, and I am unable to leave the area to go onto any campuses. So is this even a possibility?
Perhaps, I can send a picture (Face Shot), and it can be placed on the ID card and mailed out to me?

  2. Hello Kristin, for any library-related uses you do not need a physical ID card. Please reach out to the University Information Center for info on obtaining a physical ID card as an online student, (877) 967-5464.

  3. I am a Early College student and I want to know how I would be able to borrow books from the library if I don't have a Student ID card?

  4. Hello Yazmin, if you are a student of Wilmington University you do not need a physical ID card to borrow materials from the Library. If you live outside of the local area, you can use our Material Delivery service to have items mailed to you. There is no charge for this service to our students. More information can be found here: http://libguides.wilmu.edu/InterlibraryLoan/materialdelivery. If you have further questions on this process, please email us - librarycontact@wilmu.edu
