The simple answer is "Yes!"  You can return any Delaware public library item to any Delaware public library, with the exception of Interlibrary Loan materials.  Interlibrary Loan materials must be returned to the library location at which they were checked out.

This is a convenience made by being a statewide library system, using one catalog for borrowing and returning items.  

Just like you can request items from any Delaware library location, feel free to drop off your materials at any public library in Delaware while you travel around our state.  We appreciate your support!

  3. I requested a book online from the Lewes library and picked it up in Rehoboth. Is that "Interlibrary Loan materials" that must be returned to Rehoboth, or can I return it to any library?

  4. Hello and thank you for reaching out about returning library items and what constitutes as Interlibrary Loan materials. Interlibrary loan materials are those that are not found in the Delaware Library Catalog and then are subsequently requested from another library, such as one in another state. Interlibrary loan materials are clearly marked as such and do need to be returned to the library location in which it was checked out from. When you request a book online from one library in the Delaware Libraries Consortium to transfer to another library in the consortium, that is not considered an Interlibrary Loan. The libraries in the Delaware Consortium share the materials and use the same online catalog and internal software, so you are able to return those items to any of the Delaware Libraries!
