The Wilmington Public Library has the News Journal on microfilm back to 1871 that can be used for finding obituaries in Delaware.

If you are local in the Wilmington area, you would be more than welcome to come into the library and search through the newspapers for obituaries.  It is free to search the microfilm.  If you want a copy; copies cost 25 cents per page and are black and white only.

If you are not local and can't make to our Wilmington Library location in person, or would like a librarian to search for you, we do have an obituary look-up service.  Because we charge $5.00 per name in advance, all obituary requests must be done in writing.  We also require the dates of death for each person.

Please make your request in writing to the following address:
Reference Department
The Wilmington Library
Post Office Box 2303
Wilmington, DE 19899-2303

If you need help finding a date of death, or would like more information about this service, please visit our obituary information website:
