For library items, you can renew books, movies, and other physical materials yourself simply by logging into your library account online using your 14-digit library card number (located on the back of your library card) and PIN.
Here are the steps:
1. Log into your library account (If you forgot your PIN, you can have it automatically sent to you through the email address you set up on your library account.)
2. Click on "My Account".
3. Now you will see the options for renewing your items in the tab "Checkouts".
4. Check the box next to the item or items you want to renew (see the boxes next on the left of the book cover images), then press the purple "renew" button.
5. If they are renewable, they will be renewed for another loan period as of that moment and you'll see the new due date reflected. (Most books can be checked out for three weeks at a time. DVDs are usually loaned out for one week at a time.)
Note that if you see an error message letting you know that the item can't be renewed, it is likely that the item is being requested by another patron or you've reached your renewal limit. Feel free to ask us for help if this occurs.
You can also ask any Delaware librarian to renew items for you - through email, texting us, calling and in person! We're glad to help.
